Hello, I'm Mateo
I'm a project manager. A parent. An expat living in Madrid, Spain.
A few years ago, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary contract gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Spain wasn't part of the long-term plan. Like many expat relocations, it began as a job opportunity and soon grew into something much bigger.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks seemed more intricate than expected.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, doubt, and plenty of hands-on learning. Yet, gradually routines took shape. We found places that fit us, connected with other families, and began creating something that felt secure.
Why I Built ZephyrStationMill
Most online guidance fell into either corporate relocation tips or shallow tourism content. What was lacking was a genuine, everyday family perspective.
This site aims to bridge that gap — practical guidance drawn from real life in Spain.
What This Site Covers (And What It Doesn't)
This site is:
- Real-world insights from living in Spain
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism authority resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Looking Forward
Our time in Spain goes on, as does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll continue documenting what we discover.
